Founded April 2023 by AJ
Help everyone take fewer wrong turns while learning — and let more people become stronger with AI.
Empowering with AI
An open AI knowledge base and learning community — for people who want to actually use AI, not just read about it.
It started as one document
In late 2022 our founder AJ used ChatGPT for the first time, and started saving every useful article and tool into a single document — at first only for himself.
What was missing, it turned out, was not material but order: beginners did not know where to start, and good resources disappeared into group chats and bookmark folders. So the document became a path you could actually walk. He called it "The Way to AGI".
Once it was public, well-known Chinese tech creators recommended it, and people poured in. The surprise was that they did not just read — they corrected, extended and contributed. It stopped being one person's notes and became a knowledge base a crowd maintains.
Reading was not enough; people wanted to meet. That became a nightly study session at 8pm, offline gatherings across cities, and physical co-creation spaces.
One belief has not changed: help more people take fewer wrong turns, and become stronger with AI.

What is WaytoAGI?
An open AI knowledge base and learning community for Chinese-speaking learners, creators and practitioners — plus the study sessions, events and joint projects that run around it.
Is it free?
The knowledge base is free and fully public, with no paywall. Some intensive bootcamps, certifications and enterprise services are paid and clearly marked.
Are you a company?
We started and still operate as a community, run by the founder together with contributors and volunteers. The core asset — the knowledge base — stays open to everyone.
Where does the content come from?
Partly member submissions and joint projects, partly curation by core members. Everything is attributed and traceable.
Is this English version machine translated?
Yes — AI-translated from the Chinese original and revised over time. The Chinese version is authoritative. Spot a problem? Use the feedback button.
I am a complete beginner. Where do I start?
Open the knowledge base and follow the learning path section. No prerequisites.
How can I contribute?
Submit tutorials, case studies, industry observations or engineering notes. You can also join an interest group, a joint project, or start events in your own city.
What is a city chapter?
A local network of offline study sessions and events run by community organizers. See the cities page for what is currently listed.
Can companies work with you?
Yes — typically through co-created content, events and sponsorship, product launches, industry insight and talent connections.
Can I republish your content?
The knowledge base is open. Please credit the source and link back. For commercial use, contact us first.
When were these numbers measured?
The figures on this page are as of the date noted in the numbers section. We deliberately use conservative, verifiable numbers.
